Its hardly been over three weeks since WordPress 2.6 was released and we already have development underway for WordPress 2.7. The previous two wordpress releases(WP 2.5 and 2.6) have both been feature packed releases that every wordpress blogger can testify to. And this trend of new features looks to be continued with WordPress 2.7. Here are some of the new features planned for WordPress 2.7:

• Comments API – This will enable plugin developers to really handle comments in any way that they desire. Developers should love this new addition
• Keyboard shortcuts for comment moderation – aims to fasten the process of comment moderation through keyboard shortcuts.
• WordPress Core Updates – Easily upgrade your wordpress installation to the latest version without having to upgrade manually.
• Theme update api – Just as plugin updating has been made easier using plugin api, themes api will provide the chance for theme developers to update their themes with more ease.
• Dashboard and write box rearranging – This feature will allow users to re-arrange the widgets on their dashboard and write page to suit their tastes.
• Admin-only reply thing – With this new feature, you wont have to leave your dashboard to reply to comments. You can easily reply from within the dashboard. This time-saving feature is available through plugins.
• Default Sitemaps – With this new feature, you wont need to install a plugin to create a sitemap for you. WordPress 2.7 will create one for you.
• Comment Threading – Just like the name suggests, this feature will allow visitors to reply to comments in a threaded manner.
• Batch Editing of Posts -You will easily be able to edit many posts at once.
• One Click Plugin Installs - will allow you install plugins with a single click. WordPress will download the plugin itself and unzip it in its proper place. No need for you to even open your FTP client. This feature is easily available even now through some popular plugins.

So, many cool features being integrated for wordpress 2.7. I personally like the batch editing of posts feature and rearranging dashboard widgets. This should make working with wordpress much easier. WordPress 2.7 is scheduled to be released by the end of this year.

To figure out a solution, I searched google and to my surprise I quickly found this article on Watching the Net. This video below really helped me out and guided me with the process to reset my password to my liking.

This trick is a life saver. If I hadn’t been able to find a way to access my account, I would have lost some important data within my wordpress installation. So, if you are ever in a situation where you are locked out of your account, then this trick can surely help you out!

Well, we were expecting WordPress 2.6 anyday after Monday and today it has been officially released. This new version brings in a ton of new features and security updates. One of the new features is going to be Posts Revision, which will save a history of edits made to each post. So if you accidentally erase a paragraph from your post while editing, no worries, you can easily revert back to the older version! It will also be able to store a history of who changed what and when, just like on wikipedia articles! I think this will be a fantastic addition as it will certainly be needed by many bloggers at one time or another.

WordPress 2.6 will also have support for Google Gears. Below is a list of new features in this release:

• Impoved support for SSL access to the admin screens.
• You can now preview your site when you are changing themes. This lets you see how your site will look before committing to the change, just like on wordpress.com
• Avatar options increased. The Gravatar service now supports displaying MonsterID, Wavatar, or Identicon icons in place of the default icon for those who don’t have a personalized Gravatar. These options are selectable under Settings/Discussion.
• The old bookmarklet is back in WP 2.6
• Caching of Admin Dashboard files with Google Gears
• Theme previewing like in WordPress.com
• Built-in post word counter
• Ability to relocate your content directory
• Drag-and-drop galleries
• Bulk delete, activate, and deactivate for plugins

And just to clarify my recent absence from the blog, its because I am working on making a new theme for this blog. I edited this one but I just don’t like the look of it and since I have never made a wordpress theme before, I have a lot to learn but I am almost done. Maybe 3 or 4 more days.
