How to get Direct Download Links just like a Megaupload Premium user?

All you gotta do is add “mgr_dl.php” (without quotes) before the question mark in a typical megaupload download link with the format “http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EKDABBIK”. If you do not understand then read the following steps carefully and you will surely understand.

To download a file hosted at megaupload, you would have a link like this: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EKDABBIK (as you can see in the image below, click for full sized image)

Now, all you gotta do is add “mgr_dl.php” before the “?” in the megaupload download link. (See the following image for how your link will look like, click for full sized image)

So the megaupload link in the first step will become “http://www.megaupload.com/mgr_dl.php?d=EKDABBIK”
Enjoy downloading from this direct download link, just like a megaupload premium user!

Now, to really add functionality to this trick, you would be applying this to a batch of several megaupload links. A quick way of doing this is to copy only the megaupload download links and past them into notepad. Use the “Replace” function under “Edit->Replace…” and give the “Find what:” as “?d=” and the replace with box with “mgr_dl.php?d=”. Then click the “Replace all” button to change several megaupload links to direct download links at once. You can then use these links in your favorite download manager to download all links like a premium megaupload user! Enjoy!

Apple releases iPhone in China

After two years of being released internationally, the iPhone has finally been released in China. Quite ironic, considering the fact that the iPhone is made in China. One important aspect to note however is that there is no Wifi in these iPhones, a feature that is perhaps used often by many iphone users worldwide. The iPhone in China is being released by Unicom, Apples official network provider. The price for the new iPhone in China, as quoted from Mashable, are between 4,999 yuan($730) and 6,999 yuan($1,025).

You may be wondering why there is no Wifi, considering it is an integral part of how the iPhone runs. Well, as it turns out, Wifi was banned temporarily in China. However, the ban has been lifted and there is widespread speculation that the next batch of iPhones in China will have Wifi. Until that time however, it would be interesting to see how the iPhone sales fare in China.

PSP Go Review: A closer look at the new Sony PSP Go

The new PSP Go is a not a replacement to the original PSP (now PSP 3000). Sony classifies it as an alternative, mainly something that is more portable, and we might add a little more expensive. Starting at $250 the PSP Go has taken on the price of the original PSP when it was first released. Sony hopes that through a tight integration with PlayStation Online as well as PS3 they can get more then a few of these consoles off the shelves.

DESIGN:

The PSP Go is a radical change from the original PSP. While it is clear that the PSP Go and the original PSP are siblings there are quite a few differences between both systems. For instance the screen is smaller then the original (although the resolution is the same). The PSP Go has a 3.8 widescreen TFT LCD display (16:9) which boasts 480 x 272 pixels. The PSP 3000 carries a 4.3 widescreen TFT LCD with 480 x 272 pixels.

The controls have been changed also. Instead of being on either side of the screen they now slide out from underneath the screen. However, they are all located in approximate locations except for the analog stick, select and start buttons which are located towards the center. The left bumper and right bumper buttons are still located at the top of the screen. But the volume, WLAN and other controls are located at the top of the device. The device also supports Bluetooth 3.0 meaning that a variety of compatible Bluetooth headsets can be paired.

One of the biggest changes is the addition of a new 16GB internal memory (still expandable though), integrated battery (to prevent hacking) as well as a new proprietary connector meaning PSP 3000 accessories will not work with the Go. Moreover Sony has removed the UMD reader from this version so all games, movies, etc will have to be downloaded.

PERFORMANCE:

Overall the performance of the PSP Go is comparable to that of the PSP 3000. However there are some drawbacks. For those used to the control arrangements of the PSP 3000, the placement of the analog switch on the PSP Go will be very awkward. That said, the right and left bumper buttons are a lot better then that of the PSP 3000.

Although screen resolution is the same, as we said before the size of the screen is smaller. While this is not a big deal for movies the smaller screen real estate might hamper your game experience.

One of the most controversial features of the Go is its lack of a UMD drive. Sony decided to omit this for portability reasons. At first Sony had promised that people who owned UMD versions of a game would be able to get a free download credit for that game on the Go. However, that deal was soon bagged and as such, left many people with large game libraries out in the cold.

But our major gripe is the fact that downloading large games can take quite a long time. Most PSP games range from 1GB to 1.5-2GB and as you can imagine downloading onto the Go can be a pain to say the least.

The processor provides around about the same performance as the PSP 3000 so there shouldn’t be any noticeable difference there.

CONCLUSION:

So the major question will ultimately be is whether the PSP Go is worth it? If you’re used to the PSP 3000 you might want to play with a store demo before you drop your $250 on this. On the other hand if you’re looking for a new gaming system and have your eyes peeled between the DSi and the PSP Go, you should definitely check out the PSP Go. Just be prepared for life without a physical disk or cartridge.

There are lots of potential threats distributed through bittorrent networks and since filesharing has become extremely popular nowadays, one needs to be protected from these threats. The new site VerTor (http://vertor.com), which is short for Verified Torrents, offers a service that provides users with torrent files that made it through an anti-virus scan and some more tests. Every torrent file is downloaded and checked for viruses and passworded archives.

The system also extracts small samples of audio files so that users can be sure they download the right stuff. For the torrent that contains several audio files there are 4 randomly chosen files that are processed and for each a 20-second sample is made. For videos the engine makes screenshots and puts them with the file. This way visitors can see the quality of the video and make sure the content matches the title. If the video is encrypted or password protected then screenshots will be blank. Such torrents are moderated so it is hard to bump into those. Text information and archive filelists are also extracted and shown. Usually .nfo files are attached to the content with its description and it is quite handy to be able to read this description right from the site.

Another great feature that vertor has is being able to check the authencity of a torrent even if the user has downloaded the torrent from another site, although this is only for torrents that have been downloaded and added on the vertor site. For now the site has a little over 140,000 torrents and there are several thousands verified a day. If the torrent hasn’t been checked then users can upload it and it would be downloaded and verified by the system. The upload feature is now limited to 2 GB files.

Another nice feature that can be very useful for newbies is the option of downloading from the web. It launches the BitLet online torrent client and users don’t have to download torrent files and load them into various torrent clients on their computers. Last thing worth mentioning is that the site is completely ad-free. It is planned to be so as long as possible so that’s good news.

The overall concept that is implemented by VerTor is unique and has great potential! It contains torrents that are scanned for viruses, checked for protection and text/audio/graphic information is extracted. It is user-friendly as well. Vertor is probably the safest place to download torrents with ease of mind that it will work! Head on over to vertor to try their service out!

Play Games for PS2 on PC using PCSX2 Emulator

You must have played NES or SEGA games on your pc at one time another. I remember when i used to spend many hours on my pc playing Nintendo 64 games or Gameboy Advance games. And now it is possible to play games for PS2 on pc using emulator called PCSX2. There is a limitation though as Playstation 2 has much better graphics compared to gameboy advance or NES, so your computer needs to be powerful to play games at proper speed with good graphics. Here is a rough indication of the recommended specifications:

Windows XP or Windows Vista
Core 2 Duo Processor 2 Ghz or better
1GB RAM (2GB for vista)
512MB Graphics Card (8600GT or better)

You can download the emulator from here. The emulator doesn’t support 4 cores so the results wont differentiate too much between 2 cores and 4 cores. The emulator is able to play many games properly but there are still many games which are not fully playable. You should check the Compatibility list for your desired game to see if it can be played properly to the end. Probably the most hardest thing to do is to configure your PCSX2 Emulator but luckily for us, there is a very nice guide that can help you with each step.

Also, while configuring your emulator, you will need bios for ps2. You can only get them legally from your own ps2 although you can find them on torrents as well. Search for them. I cannot provide them. You may also want to read the information on the PCSX2 forums to fully maximize your playing experience. I have tried a couple of games on my computer and they worked quite well although you really need to have a gamepad connected to your pc to enjoy playing the games.

Nowadays, there are thousands of torrent sites on the web. The average user doesn’t know which torrent sites can be trusted when it comes to viruses etc. So I have compiled a list of the best torrent sites so anyone can easily find a reliable and trustworthy torrent site to use. If you have any favorite torrent sites of your own, you can share them in the comments.

1. ThePirateBay.org - This is the most popular torrent site on the web today. It hosts more then 1.3 million torrents. It also has a nice and simple design with non-intrusive ads at the sides. The search facility works very well as well which makes finding specific files easier. There are various categories ranging from movies, applications, games, pictures, anime, etc. You can also view the top 100 torrents from each of these categories to find the best torrents available.

2. Mininova - Mininova originally came into existence after the end of SuprNova. Mininova is arguably the second best torrent site on the web right now. It is indexing 800,000 torrents with an average of 3000 torrents being added everyday. It is a family-friendly site. I highly recommend it as it is one of the best torrent sites around.

3. Demonoid – this is a semi private tracker as it periodically opens up registrations. Present members can always invite new users but demonoid has a strict policy regarding this. Members are responsible for users that they invite, so if somebody invites someone who is leeching 24 hrs, then both will suffer the consequences. This ensures a nice and healthy downloading experience among users. If you can get somebody to invite you to demonoid, then I will highly recommend it.

4. Isohunt – Isohunt is mainly a torrent search engine which sorts the results with maximum peers so users can quickly search and download their required files. If you quickly need to find a torrent then searching on isohunt can yield the best results.

It is also a great source to find your required files due to its huge torrent database. It also has a firefox plugin for quick searching right from your browser window.

Snooze your emails using HitMeLater

I found a nice site while stumbling today. HitMeLater allows you to snooze any email you want. If you are busy with a project or are in a hurry to go somewhere, and cant follow up on your email, then simply snooze it for later! To use this service, you can email any message you want to “1@hitmelater.com”. This will send your email back to you in 1 hour. You can replace the 1 with any other number, and you will receive your email that many hours later on. You can also choose to receive the email on a certain weekday. For that, simply forward your email to “Tuesday@hitmelater.com”, and replace tuesday with your desired day.

I can see only limited use of this service, but the idea is pretty neat. The simplicity and ease of using this service can benefit many people looking for such a service.

Download Google Chrome Browser

Google recently announced the releasing of the beta version of their browser called Google Chrome. Google Chrome is an open-source web browser based on Apple’s Webkit Engine. It has only been released for windows so far but google intends to release the mac and linux versions soon as well. I have personally not used chrome so far, but I intend to try it out for a couple of days to see how it is. This is the very first public beta release so there are bound to be bugs and security holes. Google has however made quite an effort to enhance the security of the browser. Send messages to other IPs using IPMessage

Today I will be telling you about a unique service which allows you to send messages to other people at their IP address. IPMessage.net is a free service which acts as the gateway for people to send and receive messages using their ip addresses. Basically, you write your message and send it to an IP address and if that person opens ipmessage.net, he or she will receive the message. They can then ofcourse reply to the message as well. This is quite a unique concept but I fail to really see any advantage of using it. Although I like the idea so I had to blog about it.

Orkut Themes – Download now

A lot of you people must use orkut and must be wondering how to change the default boring orkut theme. Well, your search is over. I have personally made 20 brand new orkut themes that you wont find anywhere else on the net. Everything from NBA to Cricket to Firefox !

I would like to point out though, that these orkut themes will only be shown to yourself when YOU are browsing orkut. So lets get started. First I will list the requirements that you need to fulfill in order to install these orkut themes.

Mozilla Firefox Browser (Download it from here)

Installation Procedure for these Orkut Themes

Once you have installed mozilla firefox and the greasemonkey addon then all you need to do is install any one of the following orkut themes. Below every theme image is a link to the script for that specific orkut theme. Just click on any one and you will be prompted to install it. Click install and it will be installed in a jiffy! You can then go to browse orkut with your new theme. If you want to change a theme then you will first install the new theme from this page. Then you have to right-click on the little “monkey” face in the status bar below. From there, you will see a list of your installed scripts which will have the different orkut themes. Just uncheck any theme you do not want to use and check any orkut theme that you do want to use. Its just that simple!

Uninstall Procedure for these Orkut Themes

If you want to completely remove any of these orkut themes then right-click the monkey face and click Manage User Scripts. You will see a list of your installed scripts. Just select any script that you want to remove and click the Uninstall button at the bottom. Its just that simple!
