Today, I will be sharing with you guys a list of the 10 Best P2P File Sharing Software. I recently had a person contact me inquiring about which p2p software he should use. I personally don’t use P2P software that much but there are some files that you will only find there so it does become necessary from time to time. At first, I would suggest any person to use Bittorent but if they dont find their required files there, then p2p becomes an option. When it comes to P2P software, you need to be really careful as to which ones to use or else you can easily clog your computer with adware and spyware. This list should help those people who are looking to use a trustworthy p2p software which will fulfill their needs.
1. Limewire
Limewire is probably the best p2p software available right now. LimeWire is a peer-to-peer file sharing client for the Java Platform, which uses the Gnutella network to search and transfer files among users. Limewire is a free software, released under the GNU License, but it also has a Pro version which enables better optimized search results, faster downloads, tech support, etc.
2. Ares

Some features that set it apart from other p2p softwares is its powerful library organizer, chat rooms, built-in audio and video player. Ares automatically finds new sources and downloads files from many users at once making it one of the fastest p2p program. Ares also has support for BitTorrent protocol and Shoutcast radio stations.
3. Bearshare
Bearshare lets you share files and download from everyone on the global Gnutella peer-to-peer information network, just like limewire. You can download the latest mp3 music, movies and much more. What sets Bearshare apart from other P2P networks is its Instant Messaging system. You can have your own profile picture and interact with other people.
4. Shareaza
Shareaza is a peer-to-peer client for Windows that allows you to download any type of file available for sharing by its users. Shareaza can connect to up to 4 separate Peer-to-Peer networks, providing access to hundreds of thousands of diverse users and making it one of the largest P2P networks around. It also has many great features with a skinnable interface and support for plugins.

Frostwire s a free open source p2p file sharing software. It is an open source program which means it has no spyware or adware. Some of its unique features include bittorent support, itunes integration, proxy support, and community chat rooms.
7. KCeasy
Kceasy is a safe and completely free p2p program that supports gnutella, ares, and openFT networks. KCeasy is an open source project so you can rest assured that its spyware and adware free. It currently supports only WIndows OS but you can try Poisoned for MacOS.
8.iMesh
iMesh is probably the best p2p software for downloading music and videos. It boasts of having over 15 million free songs and videos. It comes in 9 different languages which include english, french, dutch, spanish among others. It also has a mini player which allows you to play music and video files from within iMesh.
9. Kazaa
Kazaa is one of the oldest p2p program and its still kicking! Kazaa has been around for a long time meaning they have many loyal users and lots of files being shared among users. It also features built-in virus protection as well as filters to avoid adult and dangerous files from being shown. You can also customize the toolbars to your liking.
10. StrongDC++
StrongDC++ is another open source p2p software. It shares files through the Direct Connect Network. It is a modification of the program DC++ although it incorporates many other features not found in DC++. Its main features include Segmented File downloading, partial file sharing, download/upload limiter, and customization to the look and feel of the program.
If you use another p2p software, then let us know through the comments. I will also be making a list of the best bittorent clients and best bittorent sites soon. You wouldn’t want to miss it, so subscribe now.
Hidden errors slow down system performance - FACT.
As much as I love p2p programs of the past(Morpheus, KaZaA, et cetera), I ditched the whole function filled p2p programs and went with nice simple Cabos… it is my favorite.
http://cabos.sourceforge.jp/
Limewire is best
That is why its number 1!
Information is really dated. Fasted way to get something is bittorrent. And best bittorrent client is uTorrent. It’s strange that it is not mentioned.
I tended not to include torrent clients. They are number 1 though.
still with Morpheus have been for years ever since napster went down the original napster that is which was truly the best. Old version of Morpheus geting harder to find hense less people use it. Everyone has a different story of the who is the best. The record companies have begain to buy up the P2P sites so be carful which one you use they are tring to lock them up and make them hader to use. I have about 150gb of music and will be putting them up for everyone soon. Just need to get my server back up. Will be in touch with a link asap. KEEP IT FREE!!!!
o ares é o melhor de todos os tempos!
as of now limewire..i just luv it
Limewire and Ares are very good downloading p2p programs indeed, also torrent proggy’s like utorrent but its not mentioned in the list because here you have dedicated P2P file sharing programs which works independently and searches for files directly from Peers/Other computers, unlike torrent programs which of course you need to find the torrent, download it,add it in the client and then the torrent program searches from the Tracker to get the Computers that share ,and then start shareing.
@DeltaWing
Yup. Your right. I dedicated this list to only P2P programs in which you download directly from other peers and not through torrents. I also made a Top 10 Best Torrent Sites list. You should check it out if you want.
limewire has virus..that’s the bad part..but it’s good overall
used ares for sges i like it.It gives score and what language your getting also chat room…limewire dosnt seem as good now tried in the past.new one now using as having problems getting ares on vista is ZULTRAX its quick on download but you cant pause any of the downloads and i could end up with any language and score,,,you get all that with ARES
IRC has a much larger selection. Also has the most current items. Good program for it is Avarice. Just google it.
My opinion:
1. first i used ARES and it was good but had broken links so i dumped it.
2.Then i used LIME WARE but found it slow and complicated, so i dumped it.
3.Then i used eMule but felt nothing special and dumped it too.
4. Now im using BearShare and finally i think it is a very good and simple P2P program and im liking it till now.
limewire sucks everytime i download a software it comes as trojan
Ares is the best of all if you ask me, but before implementing DHT for handling torrent files in its new versions. The problem mentioned as broken links is related to DHT.
For me…it’s Shareaza…it does the lot!
Enough said!
Ketä vittu noi kuvaukset noista ohjelmista on kirjoittanut? En sinäänsä välitä pienistä kirjoitusvirheistä siellä sun täällä, mutta noi selostukset on kaikki sellasta paskaa, että huh hu
I like limewire basically just for songs. Otherwise for software and such I recommend torrent.
Lime Wire je nahovno, pokial chces nico ine ako najnovsi album Britney Spears. Na raritne MP3 je najlepšie podla mna siet DC a ako klient StrongDC++.
hmmm, can anyone tell me which has the most variety of international songs? (preferably korean)
You can’t beat Limewire for a single track or a hard to find song..
For albums and the larger flac files.. I prefer newsgroups or torrents.
shareaza and bearshare are d exact same thing dey both suck wen it comes 2 downloading full films
I downloaded shareaza because that’s what I always used in the past, then imesh since this review said it’s the best for music. I found that shareaza no long has tons of files it used to carry and also, it is exactly the same software as imesh now. Type a result into both of them and you get the exact results in the exact order. What’s up with that? What’s a more ‘old school’ p2p program out there??
I hate everyone! I hate eMule and his eternal LOW ID!!! I hate them all! A real good P2P program wasn’t created so far.
Ithink Ares is one of the beast p2p programs but it sometim stop suddenly and now I’m using Limewire it”s good.
Utorrent for torrent files.
Cabos for individual songs.
Bit torrent is not peer to peer
FYI….the latest version of Shareaza only lets you search for music files. Older version (I use 2.5.5) allow you to search for anything…movies, applications, music, etc.
It is true limewire is good but it takes up to 90 MB of your RAM, latest versions show several mp3 files corrupted and forget about downloading applications most of them virus!!!.
Ares consumes less than 30MB of your ram it shows an equal performance.
I know utorrent is not a P2P software but it takes less than 10MB and
you have the options to download a single song or the whole discography.
I am not sure if Limewire uses as much memory as you say it does because I haven’t used it for a long time. Although I prefer torrents now and utorrent is probably the best choice to go with.
How come utorrent is not mentioned? Limewire is the heaviest software with a lot of fake files… Among the lists, I only chose ares… but the problem with ares is, most users “unshare” so you should not wonder when you cannot download a file with 100 users… because all of them don’t want to share… that makes sharing sucks sometimes… it’s taking and not giving..
frostwire is the best now
Have been using Limewire for a while, but now Im looking for a new one because Limewire hardly finds anything I want anymore, only fake ones..
Ares is the best one out of all by far. limewire is heavy software and takes alot of the computers memory.
People saying that bittorrent is not p2p are dead wrong. It does use centralized tracking systems sometimes, much like like the original napster did, but you’re still downloading from peers (i.e. other clients), not from a central server. The main difference between bittorrent and other p2p protocols is that you are downloading bits of your file from _many different_ peers, instead of the whole file from one peer, which is how most p2p works. In a sense, bittorrent is _more_ p2p than other p2p apps, because the downloading is even less centralized.
Don’t know why none of you mentioned Soulseek! I am suprised it only got fifth. Ever since I got sick of kazaa’s spyware crap in a few years ago, I switched to Kazaa. The fact that you can add users, enter a myriad of specialized chat rooms that cater to your taste to find songs, and the fact that it is Adware and Spyware free makes it reign supreme. Wishlist is an awesome function that allows you to always search that wish ‘string’ when you are online, be it song or artist. MPGs also are downloadable. Excellent software! Oh ya, the buddy list helps, when you find a good friend with lots of good tracks, you can put he/she on your buddy list and browse their files when they are online. The instant messaging feature is great. It is little know protocol, to message a user and politely ask to rip the track from them!
My 2 cents
Its been around for years too……….
all those programs are ok when you download music or movies, what about technical information? pdf or technical videos……very hard to fiend, i wish i can fiend an automatic transmission overhould video some where
Best way to download is form newsservers-p2p and torrents cant compare. nzbmatrix all day
Ares is no longer free. used to be free couple of months back, not only that ares takes for ever to find songs/data..so switched back to limewire always worked great.
first i use limewire but when i heard about emule i find it very simple and interesting and also get two problems in it
1. when ever i download wmv files it could not be opened and require some sort of updation
2. now a days when i connect it. it shows a block status(a black belt on his eyes) i dont know how to unblock it
plz some body help me
Ares is the best one out of all by far, limewire is heavy software and takes alot of the computers memory
sorry guys most p2p full of viruses now think it is silly noone share if everyone goes to torrents w will get a lot happier even if it takes loads of usage and most of us share
Use strong dc++ if you have lan conection the download speed will increase to the skyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
i still use winmx from day one never had a problem with it more genuine files not like limewire etc. its worth the wait for downloads
Dreamule is the best…
For The Horde
lol
If you want a good Torrent/Torrent site combo, use Opera Internet Brwoser, it has it’s own built in Torrent downloader, so it saves your hard drive memory, ram resources, and not to mention it’s alot faster. And the absolute best Torrent site is Vertor. Their servers personally download and scan every torrent file uploaded to make sure they’re all working and are virus/spyware/trojan free.
Dc ++ or Vuze, utorrent is for kids who don’t know how to use a computer Vuze is way better
dcplusplus (dc++) or vuze
http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net/
http://www.vuze.com/app
eMule used to be good at raw mining, but that damned LowID crap is making look for something better.
Saw LimeWire, and a simple search returned nothing but porn porn porn.
BitTorrent is great for torrents, but P2P, it’s still an empty space.
