These last couple of days I was working extensively with the local wordpress installation on my computer. I had been tweaking the theme and several other things. Between all this tweaking, I had to install different versions of wordpress. I had been running wordpress 2.6 by default and had to downgrade to 2.3 to check something out. I went upon doing this downgrade as you would normally upgrade an installation of wordpress. I first deleted all wordpress files and copied over files from wordpress 2.3. I then ran the website and upgraded database, and tried to log in to my admin account. To my surprise, my password didn’t work no matter how many times and how many variations I tried. I was locked out of my own account on my own computer!
To figure out a solution, I searched google and to my surprise I quickly found this article on Watching the Net. This video below really helped me out and guided me with the process to reset my password to my liking.
This trick is a life saver. If I hadn’t been able to find a way to access my account, I would have lost some important data within my wordpress installation. So, if you are ever in a situation where you are locked out of your account, then this trick can surely help you out!
