CulArt, Stylish Concept Phone with Nature’s Help

January 27th, 2008

As you may know, I am an avid reader of Yankodesign. I like the technology designs concepts that they come up with. Today, I liked the new CulArt(pronounced Cool Art) cellphone design by Seungchan Lee. The main theme of the phone is to incorporate both the retro aspect as well as the nature’s gifts. As you can see from the image above , the wood paneling represents the idea of trees. Also, the rocky textured surface at the back of the phone represents rock climbing. So these two aspects cover the nature aspect of the phone. » Read more: CulArt, Stylish Concept Phone with Nature’s Help

Check System Requirements of Games Easily

Check System Requirements of Games

In this article, I will be talking about a nice service that allows you to easily check the system requirements of games. Recently I bought a couple of games and I tried installing them on my computer system but with no success. I was thinking that my computer system wasn’t fast enough or my graphics card wasn’t good enough to support the games. Anyways, while I was searching the net for the games’ system requirements, I stumbled across a nice site that actually compares all your system specs with the games requirements and then tells you which piece of hardware is not up to standards.

The sites name is System Requirements Lab and you may have already used it before as it is an excellent hassle-free utility that quickly tells you the information that you need. You will need to give your permission to download an ActiveX/Java browser component that does all the analysis of your hardware. Currently the service supports Windows 98, 98SE, ME, 2000, XP, 2003, Media Center and Vista.

Some of the more notable games that you can check to see if your computer system will play them are BioShock, Call of Duty 4, Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars, Crysis, Gears of War, NBA Live 08, Need for Speed Pro Street, NHL 08, SimCity Societies, Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance, World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade. So if you are planning to buy any of these games, I would suggest that you first check to see if your computer system is able to play them or else you will be utterly disappointed in the end, like me. :(

This sounds interesting, how many times have you scoped a game at the store, taken a look at the req’s on the box, only to install it and find out that you cannot run it. I wonder however if it actually informs you of anything you already did not know, because most of the time, my hardware has simply not been compatible for some reason or another. Only way to know is to try it out I suppose.

5 Best Applications to Watch Free Live TV on Your PC

January 23rd, 2008

There must have been one time or another, when you have moved to a faraway city or to a different country all together and you are deprived of your favorite TV channels and your favorite TV shows. Or if you travel a lot, then again you will be missing your favorite TV channels like Star Sports, ESPN, CCTV5, SHTV, Fox, ABC, CBS, GolTV, NBA TV and many more. Luckily, there are several nice P2P(peer-to-peer) software that let you watch live TV on your pc for free!

I am compiling a list of the 5 best applications that let you watch free live TV on your pc. I will be posting the distinctive features of each player as well, so that will help you to decide which one best fits your needs. If you need any help then contact me by commenting here or by using the contact page(link at top).

1. TVU Player

tvuplayer-thumbnail.jpgTVU Player is my favorite out of all the applications because it is a no-hassle program which is backed up with great channels that you can enjoy at rather good quality. The player uses p2p to broadcast the channels so if more users are watching a certain channel then it will work very nicely. Even I had no problems with the buffering, and » Read more: 5 Best Applications to Watch Free Live TV on Your PC

Pagerank or RealRank?

January 22nd, 2008

RealRank or Google Pagerank?

While I was reading other blogs today, I stumbled across a nice article on Sizlopedia. As you may all remember the not-so-far past when google penalized most of the blogs that were selling links through TextLinkAds and other link selling sites. They were penalized because acts of link selling and buying were deemed to manipulate the Google Pagerank technology. Many blogs immediately halted their practice of link selling and buying in order to avoid their site being damaged too much in pagerank and in search rankings.

There is however a new alternative ranking system that has been made to counter the growth of Pagerank. It is called RealRank/IzeaRanks. Its aimed to be a ranking system for blogs and has been made to devalue pagerank in the future.

I have joined IzeaRanks but nobody can really tell right now if it will be successful or not but lets see how this ranking system goes. While it may pose some value in the future, I still doubt that it will be able to work at par with Google Pagerank. Anyways, lets see what happens.

This is the first I’ve heard of such a thing, but I really like the idea. I think google has a little too much power at the moment as far as dictating how SEO works in general, and a legitimate competitor to PageRank could lead to some interesting results. I’m curious to see if this will pick up any steam.

Some Link Love!

January 20th, 2008

Hey guys. First of all, I am sorry for not posting for the past few days. I had been really busy with my studies as I had an exam that I had to really study for. But thats over now.
I have been working on a couple of great posts for the past two days and as you may know I put in a lot of detail and depth into my posts. So it takes me some time to complete them. Anyways, I have two drafts made up and I just need to finish the final bits of them and then I will publish them. Hopefully by tomorrow I will publish them.
Do stay on the lookout for them as they will be very interesting to you all.
I promise. :)

In the meantime, I have compiled a list of the great articles that I want to share with you all. Enjoy reading them!

Be sure to check back in a day or two for new posts here on Technodorm.
Goodbye for now!
